About Pro Budget Carpet Cleaning

What Pro Budget Carpet Cleaning is for, who writes it, how claims are checked, and where to write when we get something wrong.

The short version

What you are looking at is a working blog. Old pieces stay up in the archive rather than quietly disappearing, including the ones that have aged badly.

Pro Budget Carpet Cleaning started as a private notebook. Somebody kept a record of what was worth the money and what was noise, and after a few years that notebook was more useful than most of what was published online.

What we do not do

There are questions we routinely decline. Anything that depends on facts only you can see, and anything where being wrong would cost you real money on our say so.

Who pays for this

Hosting and research come out of the same pocket that buys the things we write about. That keeps the running costs honest and the pace slow.

What is filed here

  • Games. Gaming rooms, gamer habits that are hard on carpets, and the cleaning games people find oddly relaxing.
  • Carpets. Routine care, deep cleaning and making a fitted carpet last longer.
  • Stains. Specific stains and the methods that lift them without spreading or setting them.
  • Upholstery. Sofas, armchairs and fabric chairs, and how to clean them safely.
  • Rugs. Loose rugs, natural fibres and the ones you should never put near water.
  • Cleaning Kit. The tools and products worth buying, and the ones that are mostly marketing.

Articles are filed under one topic each, so an archive page reads as a list rather than a pile. Most of the traffic here lands on games, carpets and stains.

The method

Every piece here starts with a question somebody actually asked. If we cannot answer it from experience or from a source we can name, it does not get published.

We keep the commercial side visible. Some outbound links earn us money, and that never buys a change to the text around them.

The full process, including corrections and commercial links, is set out on the editorial policy page.

The people

Every article carries the name of the person who wrote it, and every name links to a page listing everything else they have written.

Declan Rourke, Lead writer. Declan ran a mobile carpet cleaning business for eleven years, mostly in rented flats and family homes, before writing about it full time.

Rosalind Wainwright, Stains and fabrics writer. Rosalind worked as a technician in a textile testing laboratory, where she spent years staining fabrics on purpose and recording what removed them.

Aurelio Ferreyra, Games and home writer. Aurelio is a PC gamer whose gaming room has a cream carpet, a decision he regrets daily and writes about honestly.

Fixing mistakes

Point at the sentence. Write to [email protected] or use the contact page. Factual errors are fixed quickly, and when a correction changes the conclusion of a piece we say so at the foot of the page rather than editing quietly.
